The Boys Varsity Golf team begins the post season with 4 individuals advancing out of the Section 4 Qualifier held at Meadowink Golf Course (Par 72) on Monday. Michael Wareham led the field and gained medalist honors with a 1-over 73. Wareham’s round was highlighted by a stretch of 11 straight pars in the middle of his round and birdies on 3 of the final 4 holes. Chuck Tragesser was not far behind Wareham while posting a 74. Tragesser’s round included 8 pars, 3 birdies and an eagle on the #1 par-5. Zach Abadallah posted a qualifying score of 77 finishing his round with a birdie on the par 5 18th hole. Jeff Anderchak came in right at the cut line with a 78 while compiling 9 pars and 2 birdies. Narrowly missing the cut were Nolan Shilling – 79 and Luke Kimmich – 80.
Although this was not a team event, the Panthers posted a very impressive 381 team score. The 4 qualifiers will advance to the WPIAL Semi-Finals to be held next week at one of two locations, Hannastown Golf Club or Indiana Country Club. Site and date to be determined following all sectional qualifiers conclude play this week. The Panthers will complete section play this week while traveling to Plum on Tuesday and hosting Woodland Hills on Wednesday. The team sits at 7-1 in Section 4 play and 8-1 overall.
